Happy Earth Day from all of us at Merchology! Protecting our planet and the environment is especially important to us and we’re happy to announce that we’ve made more steps towards sustainability than ever before. In 2018 we made the move to recycled shipping boxes and poly mailer bags to make our shipping process as eco-friendly as possible! We also launched our Sustainability Collection last year, giving you a wide variety of sustainable products to customize with your company logo.
Additionally, we are continuing our membership to Patagonia’s 1% for the Planet program throughout 2019! Through the program we will donate 1% of all revenue to charities focused on environmental causes. Everything went so well in 2018 that we’ve decided to renew our partnerships with Recycle Across America and the Mississippi Park Connection!
2018 Volunteer Event at Coldwater Spring
As part of our partnership with the Mississippi Park Connection and the National Park Service we sent out volunteers to Coldwater Spring in Minneapolis last May. The goal of the volunteer event was to help remove invasive plants for the area to restore the landscape to its original state.
Over the course of the day, 22 Merchology volunteers filled dozens of garbage bags with the invasive plants and planted native plant species in their place. It was a ton of fun getting out there and making a difference, but the job isn’t done yet! We are happy to announce that we will be returning to the Coldwater Spring in May, 2019 to make even more progress! Want to help? If you’re in the Minneapolis area you can do your part in restoring this area to its former beauty.
About Recycle Across America
Recycle Across America is dedicated to implementing a society-wide labeling system for recycling bins to make it easier to recycle. Recycling labels can be confusing and people often times do not know what can and cannot be recycled. That’s why RAA created their standardized labelling system. We implemented it in the Merchology HQ, and we love it!
It’s not just here where the program is working though. In locations where these labels are used, recycling levels increase 50-100% and significantly reduce contamination levels. Recycle Across America is a non-profit is based here in Minneapolis, but they serve communities and organizations all across the US.
About Mississippi Park Connection
The Mississippi Park Connections focuses on educating people about the Mississippi River, which runs is North America’s longest river! Running from Minnesota down to the Gulf of Mexico, the mighty Mississippi touches ten total states along its way to the sea.
Mississippi Park Connection's mission is to help keep the river clean and rich with wildlife, while serving as a model for operating a national park in an urban area (the Twin Cities) where people are part of the landscape.
Get Involved!
While you should make sustainable choices more than one day a year, Earth Day is a great reminder of how much of a difference we can make when we all band together for a common cause. If you don’t already have sustainability initiatives or volunteer events planned, get your team together and brainstorm ways that you can make a difference.
